First Tee – Silicon Valley hosted our Summer Pre-Season Girls Golf Play Day on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at Rancho del Pueblo. The theme of the event was Carnival Fiesta with a Twist of Encanto.
Twenty-five of FTSV’s youth participants enjoyed a fun and collaborative day of games and activities at the course. This event provided a safe and welcoming environment for participants to build their self-esteem, social connections, and life skills. For the first time in FTSV history, two male participants joined in on the event and were received positively by the group. We hope that this positive experience will pave the way for continued inclusion of diverse groups at this event.
The participants were encouraged to engage in both the carnival-style games and the Encanto-related activities. Carnival-style games included: corn hole, ring toss, hula-hoop race, photobooth and putt bowling. Encanto-style activities included: whisper challenge, obstacle course, flower-crafting, fortune-telling, and freeze-dance mindfulness. Specifically, the purpose of the mindfulness activity was to encourage the participants to live in the present moment by focusing on their physical and emotional well-being. Our seven amazing volunteer coaches supported participants throughout the event by emphasizing the integration of core values such as confidence, respect, and sportsmanship. The event concluded with participants trading in their raffle tickets for fun prizes, building strong social connections, and preparing for another wonderful season here at FTSV!
